Robert Horsman has enjoyed a long and successful career in the banking industry and has been an instrumental force in community banking. In 1981, Mr. Horsman was a founder of San Diego National Bank (SDNB)—he was appointed as president in 1996 and added the role CEO to his responsibilities in 2000. During his 28 year tenure at SDNB, he helped the bank increase its asset base to more than $3.5 billion. After the acquisition of SDNB by U.S. Bank, Mr. Horsman served a two-year term as regional chairman of U.S. Bank until December 2011. He is currently the San Diego Market President for Torrey Pines Bank. Mr. Horsman received a B.S. degree in Finance/Banking from Texas Tech University in 1970. Serving the community in which he lives is a key activity for Mr. Horsman; he has raised more than $100 million for local non-profit organizations and academic institutions and has held many leadership positions as well. Mr. Horsman served as chairman of the Kyoto Prize Symposium in 2009-2010; president of the San Diego Opera Board; director and chair of Scripps Mercy Hospital Foundation Board and co-chair of its $50 Million Campaign; chairman of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce; and trustee of the UC San Diego Foundation. Mr. Horsman has been actively involved with the Zoological Society of San Diego for almost four decades. He has been a member since 1981; he served as vice-chair of the Zoological Society of San Diego Foundation Board from 2008-2010. He is currently a trustee and treasurer of the San Diego Zoo Global’s board of directors.
